Flying to Spain, a few tips

What you need to fly

  • Boarding pass (either printed or on a phone/tablet), you should have two passes, one for your flight to Spain and one for the return flight.
  • Your passport, make sure it’s in date!
  • Your stuff… ID, currency/cash cards, clothes, toiletries, footwear and shades (check with your airlines for any restrictions on luggage weight and size, see below)

Getting to the airport

The recommended arrival time at the airport is 2 hours prior to departure from the majority of airlines, please check your your own flight details for specific information.

Bag size and weight

Those of you that are not regular flyers, budget airlines such as EasyJet & RyanAir are very strict on the size & weight of your baggage and will charge you extra if you go over your allowance. Make sure your hold & hand luggage bags are within the allocated size & weight allowances stated on their websites. If you have bathroom scales they can be used to get an approximate weight of your bag (the airport scales will be more precise!), remember to leave a little room for In The Sun merchandise on the way back!

Airport Transfers, getting to and from Spanish airports

Getting to Lloret De Mar from Spanish Airports

The closest airports to Lloret De Mar (the resort for Innovation In The Sun) are Barcelona and Girona. If you’re using privately booked transfers (not through Innovation) or grabbing taxis make sure you have your hotel/apartment address written down to show the driver (they don’t all speak English!) and it’s usually best to arrange a price before getting in as with all countries taxi prices do vary.

Travel time between Girona and Lloret De Mar is roughly 40 minutes
Travel time between Barcelona and Lloret De Mar is roughly 1 hour

Airport Transfers booked with Innovation

If you have booked transfers through us please be aware the coaches will all be handled by a company called FROM2. Reps from FROM2 will be in the areas detailed below and will be carrying a FROM2 sign. They will check your details and then direct you to your waiting coach. When boarding the coach you will need to have both your passport and your 5 digit # booking ref number to hand so that you may be checked off the list.

Transfers to resort are by shuttle bus and there may be wait between transfers. To avoid unnecessary journey length there will be a central drop off point for some hotels which will be within walking distance of your holiday accommodation.

Barcelona (BCN) airport arrivals:

Barcelona Airport has 2 terminals Terminal 2 (B and C). and Terminal 1.

Terminal 1: After collecting your luggage please make your way through the doors to the arrivals hall, turn right and proceed to the oficina de Turismo de la Generalitat. A FROM2 representative will come and meet you here holding a FROM2 sign. If there is no representative visible straight away please wait at the office for a few moments as they may be returning to the terminal from the transfer coach.

Terminal 2B: After collecting your luggage please follow the exit signs to the arrivals area then turn left where you will find the FROM2 office, where you will be met by a representative holding a FROM2 sign. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you do NOT leave Terminal 2B without meeting your representative.

If your group is delayed in baggage reclaim one member of your group should enter the arrivals hall to advise the FROM2 representative about the delay whilst leaving the rest of the group to collect all luggage. This is very important as the representative will expect to see your group within 1 hour of your flight landing.

If you cannot find your representative and the FROM2 office is closed please call +34 93 767 28 36
(This number is ONLY to be used if you cannot find your representative at Barcelona airport upon arrival)

N.B: We cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred if you do not contact the Perla Tours Team on the Emergency Number.

Girona (GRO) airport arrivals:

After collecting your luggage please exit baggage reclaim and enter the arrivals area to meet your representative holding a FROM2 sign. Please identify yourself to the representative by showing your Passport. Once you have been checked off on the transfer list you will be directed to the appropriate coach.

If your group is delayed in baggage reclaim one member of your group should enter the arrivals hall to advise the FROM2 representative about the delay whilst leaving the rest of the group to collect all luggage. This is very important as the representative will expect to see your group within 1 hour of your flight landing.

If you have any trouble locating your representative please make your way to the office of Viajes Anubis/FROM2 which is located in the arrivals area or call +34 93 767 28 36 (This number is ONLY to be used if you cannot find your representative at Girona airport upon arrival)

Opposite Colossos is the pick-up and drop-off point for anyone with Club Only tickets that has booked transfers, anyone with hotel packages can get details from reception at check-in for their transfers (which will pick-up and drop off from a bus stop close to your hotel). The beach bar is open 12pm til 7pm daily playing drum and bass and serving amazing cocktails!

Your safety and security

While it is not mandatory, Innovation does recommend that you have some kind of travel insurance in place before travelling abroad to cover you in case of lost baggage, theft, or in the unfortunate circumstance that you may require medical treatment.

We also advise you put all your valuable belongings in a safe. Most of the hotels will have safe boxes, either in the rooms or at reception, check with the staff on the front desk when you check into your hotel. This may cost extra but it’s less hassle than losing your passport, spending money, smart phone or jewellery.

In The Sun travel essentials

Here’s a general idea of the things we recommend you bring to Innovation In The Sun:

  • Passport (check expiry date)
  • A photocopy of your passport for check-in with Innovation
  • Hotel check-in voucher (printed)
  • Boarding passes (for travel both to and from Spain)
  • Clothes (usually very hot every day!)
  • Shades (also very bright!)
  • Suncream
  • Currency and/or cash cards
  • European Insurance card

The sound system and main venue

Who’s ready for the RC1 sound system in Spain?! It’s going to be madness!

The RC1 was designed and developed by engineer Jon Evelegh. He enjoyed the experience of music being complimented with heavy bassweight. He found that the other systems he had worked with were capable of achieving this weighty sound at low volumes if set up to do so, but could not maintain such bassweight at the higher volume levels required for events. The answer it seemed lay in developing a bass speaker that could produce considerably more sound pressure at these frequencies.

So, Jon set off on a lengthy mission to try and develop the loudest bass speaker possible. Eventually, following much prototyping and development of some new technology, the original RC1 (Radical Concept mk1) bass bin was born. It was a relatively small unit, such that it was easily portable, yet it was very efficient at the same time as being able to handle exceptionally high power. Some further development, including use of some of the new technology, was then used in the designing of a mid/high speaker to compliment the bass speaker. The first complete RC1 Sound System was born!

At events it quickly became apparent that RC1 appeared unbeatable in terms of being able to perform loudly and heavily, but the sound quality and balance was not as good as some other systems. As a result, over the last couple of years or so there has been ongoing development work to improve the sound quality and tonal balance, resulting in many modifications and improvements, such that now the RC1 Sound System often sounds clearly better than many of the other “Pro Audio” alternatives.

The RC1 project is always undergoing further development and improvement. RC1 appears to have achieved great success already, initially in producing extreme sound pressure and bassweight, and more recently in achieving such excellent sound quality. As a result we have recently shifted our attention slightly to sound control as restrictions such as off site noise limits are proving more and more of a constraint nowadays, particularly for outdoor events, and being able to control the sound better can make all the difference in finding a compromise that allows events to proceed within their licence whilst the music still remains at an enjoyable level for the people attending.

RC1 Sound System – STILL PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES!
